GB Lake Fish e-DNA Assessment Procedure

This method statement describes how to determine the WFD class for the lake fish biological element. Lake fish standards have been developed for the first time for use in the third river basin planning cycle.The lake fish classiicaton tool is used to describe the impact of nutrient pressures on fish populations by calculating an Ecological Quality Ratio (EQR) value. This describes the similarity of the observed fish community to that expected under reference conditions. The approach uses five metrics, developed from analysis of eDNA obtained from water samles.
