Guidance on Monitoring Groundwater

This paper provides guidance on establishing groundwater monitoring programmes to meet the requirements of the Water Framework Directive (WFD). These programmes include both quantitative and chemical (quality) monitoring for status and trend assessment and monitoring to support (ground) water body characterisation, ‘prevent and limit’ obligations and Drinking Water Protected Area (DWPA) objectives.
